Last semester, we partnered with Golden Voice to give away concert tickets for shows happening throughout Southern California. Amongst one of those concerts was Blu DeTiger’s show at The Observatory. The singer-songwriter and bass player first went viral on Tiktok after making bass covers of popular songs. She stopped by Santa Ana’s The Observatory for her “Blu DeTour” last semester and we were able to get coverage of it!
Starting off the show was opening act Ryan Woods who performed hits such as his most
popular single “Bad Texter,” which currently has over 21 million views on Spotify. He also took some time to promote Hope Unite, a non-profit organization centered around mental health that he is currently collaborating with.
After his set was the next opener, Asian American singer and songwriter Tiffany Day. Tiffany recently performed on our campus’ Concert at the Becker, hosted by Associated Students, Inc.. While opening for Blu DeTiger, she performed hit songs such as “Calone” and “If I Don’t Text You First” as well as songs from her now released EP “THE GRATITUDE PROJECT.” She provided fans with an energetic and fun set while taking time in between to talk about her life and her journey and struggles in the industry. Both openers greeted fans at the merch table after their sets.
After the two openers was finally the main act of the night. Blu DeTiger was accompanied by her brother, Rex DeTiger on drums, and her guitarist, Horace. She performed fan favorites such as “Figure It Out,” which was a popular audio on Tiktok for a while, and other songs like “Cotton Candy Lemonade” and “Crash Course.” Throughout her set, Blu made sure to show off her knack for the bass guitar, including plenty of complex solos with it throughout her set. Some other highlights of her performance included a medley of iconic pop songs and a bass duet with a member of the audience, which she has been doing for every show of the tour.
This semester we are continuing to collaborate with Golden Voice! If you’re interested in snagging some free concert tickets, make sure to check out our Instagram at @csufmic for ticket giveaways!
